SOM '09 - Here We Go! (originally posted on June 5th)

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we leave tomorrow for our 3-week parish missions in Wanganui and Hastings. We will spend a week in Wanganui, followed by a week in Hastings and then back to Wanganui.

This morning we had a wonderful time with our young friends in St Francis Xavier Primary School in Tawa. We presented a programme based on the theme "Building our House on the Rock".

Marilyn encouraged the children to build their house on the Rock which is Jesus and His teachings. Tom then shared his testimony of how he found friendship with Jesus in his life.

Thereafter we visited two classes and gave the children artwork so they could express ways that they can choose to build their house on God.

We then encouraged the children to offer their artwork to God and we concluded our time by praying for each of them and proclaiming God's truths and promises over their lives.

We thank God for the gift of each of the children and also for their teachers who show such nurturing love for them! Lord, protect these seeds of faith and may they grow to the fullness of holiness in You!
