Spring Mission at St Thomas More Parish!

On 3rd October, we travelled up to Auckland for a parish mission at St Thomas More parish. What a blessing it was for us to start the mission with the youth of the parish!

There was great openness to receive the message of God's love, the call to deepen their relationship with Him, to call upon the Holy Spirit's power and also to go out to evangelise.

They returned afterwards, brimming over with excitement of their encounters and conversations with people. They were encouraged to learn first-hand that it was not as difficult as they had thought!

Evangelising in the mall made us realise once again that there are many in the world who do not yet know Christ, or even heard of Him! We felt very blessed that we could share in those few minutes who God is for us, and to invite people to come to know Him! Lord, gather your flock to You!

The young people were very keen to learn creativity and participate in singing and worship.

4 of them joined Mely to perform "Pick It Up" at the Saturday evening youth mass.

The others joined Chris in the worship team for the mass.

The joy of our first weekend at St Thomas More overflowed in abundance into the rest of the week that we were there.....more pictures and stories coming up!

SOM Shine in Hastings!

The girls from the SOM team shared the message about our true identity in God to many young women in Hastings. You are beautiful inside out, dear sisters! God's masterpiece, His work of art, His beloved daughters. Never forget who you are!

The youth gathering at Sacred Heart Parish was an evening of fun, games, fellowship and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit!

During our time in Hastings, we were blessed by the warm and generous hospitality of the people there, who fed us and accomodated us at their homes. Thank you!

We ran 3 evenings of parish seminars based on the themes of "Knowing the Gift", "Receiving the Gift" and "Being the Gift". They were Spirit-filled evenings. We thank God for the open hearts, eager to receive God’s word for them. People appreciated the variety of the programme and enjoyed the joy and love which shone through the team members.

Young and old came forward to receive prayer, for more of the Holy Spirit, for renewal, for deepening of their faith...the priests were amazed by the number of people who went for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Indeed, God’s grace abounds!

Using drama, teachings and testimonies, we proclaimed the Good News in St Mary’s Primary School, St John’s College, St Joseph’s Primary School and Sacred Heart College throughout the week.

What a grace to bring the Good News to the young!

Having completed our work in Hastings, we surrender all we have done back to the Lord, and we pray that He who provides the growth, will tend to the seeds sown and bring to completion the good work He had begun in His people. If the Lord wills, this will not be the last time we will see the people of Hastings! \o/

Greater things have yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city, Amen!

SOM Shine! In Wanganui

Greetings from Wanganui!

We’ve just ended our first week of mission at St Mary’s and will soon be on our way to Hastings.

Last night we had a wonderful time with the youth at St Mary’s Parish. To the older teens, we shared and challenged them about honouring their identity as men and women created by God. To the younger ones, we talked about our images of God. The youth were very open and some committed to coming to the next youth gathering despite it clashing with some other event happening that day. It was a big encouragement to the group of adults and parents who’ve been running these youth gatherings. \o/

The team was also very blessed by the door-knocking experiences throughout the week. Despite the rain and the initial trepidation, the participants did well and persevered with their enthusiasm and desire to share the love of God with as many people as possible.

The newly printed tracts containing the 4 Gospel truths proved very useful in our conversations with people about our faith. I was very moved by one elderly Catholic lady who got on her knees to make her prayer of commitment to invite Jesus into her life after having the Gospel truths explained to her! Alleluia!!! \o/

We also had a very enjoyable time at the primary schools and Catholic high school. To the younger ones, we encouraged them to build their lives on Jesus the Rock. To the older ones, we spoke on the power of the cross as well as our identity as beloved sons and daughters of God. We are grateful always for the chance to pray with the students at the end of our sessions with them.


The team is doing well. Yesterday we had time for cell group and among the things we were grateful for, was the fact that we are called to outreach together and the unity we experience as a group. Thank you Lord!
