Celebrating the New Year in the Lord!

Better late than never!
We celebrated the lunar new year in style on Sunday,
with a sumptuous dinner meal prepared and hosted by the Asians in our community.

After having been together for 2 weeks, the atmosphere was wonderfully familial,
befitting the celebration of the traditional reunion dinner
which gathers family members together, near and far.
introducing the "yu sheng" to our friends of other cultures!
we are sisters..
we are brothers (hear us roar!)
we are one family
we have one Lord and Father \o/

Thank You God for this new year.
May we live it for Your glory!

Presenting the Sheep of SOM 2010!

The School of Missions TWENTY 10 opened on Sunday 14 February with the celebration of the Eucharist by our Archbishop John Dew.

The theme of this year's school is taken from John 10:27

(thaaaanks Mely & Ju for the beautiful banners!)

During offertory, the participants each offered a sheep and placed them on the pastures, symbolising their decision to follow Jesus their Good Shepherd as He leads them through the School...
Maizy: here I am!
(We are so glad you are here too Maizy!)

Yesterday we had a workshop where the participants personalised their sheep. Each week they will deposit into the sheep their reflections of the week past and the truths they have received.

Presenting the Lord's sheep, each called by name, each uniquely designed, each wonderfully loved....

Christine from New Zealand

Gemma from Korea

School of Mission TWENTY10

On 14 February, another epic journey begins here at St Gerard's Monastery as we are joined by 10 participants for the School of Mission which will last for 5 months.

During this time, they will be immersed in spiritual formation, community living and serving, prayer and mission.

Our community is excited about the School and look forward to running alongside these young people and seeing them transformed inside out by the power of God!

Please keep these participants and our community in your prayers.

Archbishop John Dew will celebrate the Opening Mass for the School on 14 February Sunday, 10.30am. Do join us if you are in Wellington!

More updates to come. :-)

Thank you for giving to the Lord!

Every week there is a group of dedicated folks who turn up at Rimutaka prison; a jolly bunch generous with smiles and kind words. They are our prison ministry volunteers! Quality individuals with hearts of gold, they join us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to the inmates every week.

The ICPE mission is truly blessed by their faithfulness and faith and we had the privilege of honouring these co-workers of ours recently.

preparing tokens of appreciation for them....

Mely, bustling behind the scenes, with Viola in her choice seat!

ready, set, chop!
preparing a sumptuous meal for our co-workers.

Jo and Marilyn getting an immersion experience in the kitchen and emerged winners!

Wimpie encouraging and exhorting our prison ministry team to continue to reach one more for Jesus, the Good Shepherd who has come to save the lost.

Ju, the chicken rice was a hit, as always!

Thank you for giving to the Lord!
